Sew What’s Next
One product, two connected stages: first I built an AI-powered tool around a real maker problem. Now I’m using it to test how new products become visible in AI search.
01 Build the product
An AI sewing companion that turns possibility into a next project.
Sew What’s Next is a personal app I built for my sewing hobby to help me decide what to make with the fabric and patterns I already own.
Rather than just tracking your fabric and sewing pattern stash, it helps you make decisions based on what you have available. I used it myself after finding an overall dress online—working through whether I had enough fabric, which patterns could create a similar result, and what I could make without starting from scratch.
- Match available fabric with patterns you already own
- Turn online inspiration into feasible project options
- Move from “What could I make?” to a confident next project

Once the product was live, I asked a second question: could a new niche app become visible in AI-generated answers?
02 Measure discoverability
Sew What’s Next AEO Experiment
A public experiment tracking whether a new sewing app can become discoverable in AI-generated answers for sewing project planning, fabric stash organization, and pattern-matching queries.
The goal is not only to improve the app’s visibility, but to document a repeatable AEO process: establish a baseline, analyze competing answers, make targeted content and technical changes, rerun the test, and publish what changed.
